Name Change
Name change applications vary for individuals and for minors. MINORS: The key factor for successful name change for an infant, (under 18 years old) is consent of the noncustodial parent. Also, the application includes justifiable reasons for the name change. The minor cannot attempt to avoid the payment of creditors. ADULTS: The key factor here is that the petitioner must attest that there is good cause for the change and the change will not avoid the payment of creditors. Most applications require a notice to be published in the local newspaper. There are exceptions however, please call for more specific information.
